CREATIVE FEES:
You Creative Fee compensates your photographer for their time and talent. For their time to correspond, consult and plan with you prior to your portrait session including the time spent emailing, preparing & processing paperwork, consulting & planning with you prior to your portrait session. Creative Fees compensate for your photographer for their time and talent to shoot your portrait session, For their time to travel to your desired shoot location (most locations not in downtown Charleston require travel time of at least 30 minutes while some locations (such as cypress gardens, botany bay or the far end of Kiawah Island require a minimum of 45 minutes of travel time, one way). Lastly, your Creative Fee compensates your photographer for their expertise and talent to shoot your portrait session expertly, quickly and efficiently. For their time to edit your images in that signature rich, true to life style that you love and the time that it takes to deliver your proof gallery, to consult with you for ordering and the time spent actually designing, ordering and delivering any purchased prints, wall art, albums or digital files from your order,

what it means to be an above board legitimate business owner:
With 15 years industry experience, I am a locally, state and federally compliant business. I pay for the appropriate local & state required licenses, I carry appropriate liability insurance as well as equipment & vehicle insurances. I pay for several photography related business tools with monthly & yearly subscriptions for software and website / hosting, etc. I am also a nationally recognized member of several professional photography organizations that require yearly dues and in addition to all of that,
I pay roughly 20% of everything I make in state and federal taxes.
Unlike photographers that you might find who will do it cheaper, I can promise you one thing: they won't do it better.
I also understand that what they're doing is a race to the bottom.
I value my time, I value my time with my children and family and I want to retire someday.
Therefore, I know that I simply cannot just give my work product away for less than what it costs to actually run a legitimate business in the state of South Carolina and this is why I choose to structure my pricing in this way.
Why am I telling you this?
As a third generation photographer and 15yr veteran in this industry, it's not enough to just create pretty pictures, it is my responsibility to educate not only prospective clients about the actual value of what they're paying for but also the next generation of photographers... I feel that it is my sacred responsibility to leave this industry better than I found it!

How far in advance should we book our session?
We can shoot your Family Portraits in and around downtown Charleston, Hampton Park, Charlestowne Landing, Magnolia Gardens, Cypress Gardens, at one of our beautiful County Parks, on Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, Kiawah Island or Seabrook Island.
The possibilities are limitless!
During your pre-session phone consultation, I will talk with you about the types of locations that interest you & help you to select a photo location that will be perfect for your family!

Where & When do we shoot?
The softest, most flattering light of the day happens in the 90 minutes after sunrise or in the 90 minutes before sunset. With that being said, we can shoot at any time of day, as long as you understand that the sunlight (looks) different at 1pm than it does at 6pm. If you want to shoot in the middle of the day, we’ll just need to get a little creative with locations, vantage point and posing! Downtown Charleston is a fantastic option for shooting in the middle of the day!

What time of day do we shoot?
I am frequently asked to photograph Extended Families vacationing in in Charleston and on our nearby beaches! I am happy to travel to your vacation rental or I can show you some of the most beautiful vistas that the lowcountry has to offer for your Family Portraits! There is an additional $25 per person creative fee assessed for groups larger than six
(a standard family size).

You’ll want to dress in a way that feels authentic. You’ll want to dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable and confident — like the very best version of you! During your pre-session phone consultation, we'll discuss wardrobe. I am happy to help you to put together your wardrobe for the session OR you can always borrow something from my client closet at the studio if you'd like!

Can we bring the dog?
Due to high demand and limited availability, Creative Fees are non-refundable for any reason.
In the event of illness, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will simply re-schedule for the very next available date / time that works for both of us!
If possible, we will shoot before or after any inclement weather.

We had an awesome experience having our family photos taken by Brittany. She's so calming and kind, and did such a wonderful job capturing our family. We truly loved all the images! Even my teens said the session was fun and were happy with their photos - no small feat!
