Charleston’s Best Family Photographer specializing in Isle of Palms Family Photos and Extended Family Portraits for Families Vacationing on Isle of Palms

Isle of Palms, South Carolina is a popular beach destination for families vacationing in the low country of South Carolina! It’s a beautiful barrier island outside of Charleston that can be the perfect backdrop for your Isle of Palms Family Photos! Isle of Palms a charming, little beach town with an incredibly picturesque coastline and legendary sunsets for your Family Portrait Session while you’re on vacation!

Scheduling your Family Portraits on Isle of Palms:
- Location: I am happy to shoot with you at your vacation rental if that feels easier for your group or we can shoot on Isle of Palms’ beautiful, soft sandy beaches with those gorgeous boardwalks, sand dunes and sunsets!

- Timing & that Golden Hour Magic: The best lighting for your Isle of Palms Family Photos is either during the early morning or the late afternoon (known as “golden hour”) because the light is soft, warm and flattering for photography. Trust me — that soft, diffused sunlight adds a magical quality to your photos, which will make them even more captivating!

3. Locations & Licensing: Charleston proper as well as all of the municipalities (Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, Kiawah Island, Seabrook and Edisto, etc.) all require photographers to obtain commerical licenses (for each beach as well as the city of Charleston) in order to work there. Be sure you hire a photographer who is licensed to shoot on Isle of Palms (I am) or you’ll run the risk of incurring fines if they’re caught shooting without a license!

Tips for a Successful Extended Family Photoshoot on IOP:
- Timing: Plan your photoshoot for early morning (an hour or so after sunrise) or late afternoon (about an hour or so before sunset) to take advantage of cooler temps and the best lighting of the day! Avoid the midday sun (and heat), which can create harsh light and unflattering shadows.

- Coordinate your Wardrobe: My best advice for choosing outfits that compliment each other is to visit Pinterest.com, search color pallets (examples: summer color pallet, fall color pallet, beach color pallet, neutral color pallet, etc.) The search results will return a ton of pre-made color pallets, choose one you love and send a screenshot of the color pallet to everyone (a visual is preferred because everyone has a different idea about what ‘blue’ is!) Instruct everyone to plan their shoot wardrobe using the color / tones in that color pallet! This way you’ll all look really nice / coordinated when photographed together as a large group and then each family unit will also coordinate well together! In the spring and summer, I suggest opting for light, breathable fabrics that complement the beach environment! In the fall and winter, I absolutely adore the contrast of fall/winter colors, textures and accessories with the beach environment, it’s so unexpected and awesome!

3. Relax and Have Fun: The best family photos often come from genuine moments of laughter and connection. Encourage everyone to relax and enjoy the experience, allowing for candid shots that capture the essence of your family!

Preserving Your Isle of Palms Family Vacation Memories
You should really start considering how you might like to preserve and display your memories from this portrait session as soon as you book your session! Look at your walls and consider where you have space or would like to replace wall art from your session! Look around your home for photo frames that need updating! Also, knowing which rooms you want to hang and display the art from your portrait session can help with wardrobe selection as well! Choosing a complimentary color pallet for the room you would like to hang wall art from this session in is a real pro move! From prints for framing, canvas, wood or metal prints and gallery framed wall art to photo heirloom albums and digital files, there are numerous ways to showcase your family’s photography.
